I teach Vinyassa Flow, in Hampstead Village, a flowing, moving, meditative style of yoga. No fuss, no fluffiness – just moving, breathing and flowing.
My intention is that you leave my class feeling space in the body in areas that were tight, more stillness and clarity in the mind where there was noise and chatter, and feeling emotionally more grounded and restored.
Throughout my classes, we use the breath as the anchor to help calm the nervous system, relax the muscles and clear the mind.
You don't have to be super bendy to do and benefit from yoga, in fact some stiffness can be very helpful in providing stability. With practice, as the body strengthens and the range of motion in the joints is increased, poses often become more accessible - but they are not the ultimate goal. The poses are simply a way to challenge the breath, also helping us to stay focussed. Maintaining a steady breath, even when the body is challenged, is the real work!
Wherever you are in your own yoga experience – complete beginner or looking to deepen your existing practice – I can meet you there and help you progress.
